The Communist ruling Party in China (CPC) is making effort to boost the party`s poverty-relief policies by persuading Christian villagers to substitute posters of Jesus and gospel verses in their homes with that of President Xi Jinping according to a report by South China Morning Post.
As a part of what seems to be a vehicle of political indoctrination to transform Christians into party believers, officials of CPC visited the Yugan county of Jiangxi urging them to remove Christian symbols and passages in their living rooms.
Qi Yan (chairman of Huangjinbu people`s congress) was quoted saying “many poor households have plunged into poverty because of illness in the family. Some resorted to believing in Jesus to cure their illnesses,......but we tried to tell them that getting ill is a physical thing and that the people who can really help them are the Communist Party and General Secretary Xi.”
Many Christian families have responded to this call and they believe it will secures their share of the poverty-relief fund.
