As a music blogger, I have had the opportunity to listen to a variety of artists, each with their own unique style and approach to music. However, Dave Bastow, the artist behind INC3NSE, stands out as a true visionary in the music industry. His music is not just a mere expression of his artistic talent, but a spiritual offering to God and to those who share his faith.
The name of Bastow's latest single, INC3NSE, holds a special significance. In Judaism, the incense offering (Hebrew: תֶ רֹטְ ק qetoret) was related to perfumed offerings on the altar of incense in the time of the Tabernacle and the First and Second Temple period. This song was an important component of priestly liturgy in the Temple in Jerusalem and symbolized the devotion of the people to God.
It`s an energetic upbeat song based upon the Lord's Prayer which can be found in the New Testament (Matthew 6:9-13). The Lord's Prayer is a prayer that Jesus taught his disciples to pray when talking to God and is a good starting point for us today too. I decided to try and capture the spirit of the prayer in a song that would be both memorable and easy to understand and make it available to people who would not necessarily come into contact with God's word "...so is my word that goes out from my mouth: it will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it." Isaiah 55:11 (NIVUK).
